Emergency Preparedness Kit
In this day and age, it is absolutely critical that you prepare yourself for
any unexpected disaster. You see, no matter what geographical region you are in, will always be a chance that there
will be a disaster either through man made means, or natural means. Since many of these occurrences can come
without warning (such as a tornado, sudden flash flood etc...) it is best then, to prepare yourself by knowing what
steps you need to take to prepared for an emergency. Here are the 3 critical keys to emergency preparedness:
Emergency Preparedness Kits - if you are with many people, ensure that your kit can accommodate
for everyone, as in a disaster, we cannot always have instant access to emergency personnel or paramedics. A good
kit will cover the basis from coverings like gauze, band aids, to medicines to help deal with infections, cuts
etc... Also make sure that you store your kits in accessible places in your car, home, office etc, as in most
disasters stores and other institutions are often shut down.
You should also consider that your kit should contain some food, water, and other items which will help you keep
warm (such as a lighter) until help does arrive. You can also consider getting a customized first aid kit, if you
live in areas often prone to natural disasters, such as earth quakes. You can easily find kits designed for these
kinds of disasters.
Emergency Preparedness Plan - Make sure that you have a plan of action in the case that something
like a fire, flood etc... should happen. Educate yourself on what to do and where to go, should a natural disaster
or dangerous issue arise. Also ensure that members of your family, work etc... are all aware of these guidelines,
so as to lower the panic level once an emergency does actually occur.
Emergency Preparedness- Stay Informed! - You can easily stay up to date with
things before they happen by frequently checking the weather and other information details of the places you will
be. If you are traveling, be sure to check the risks of the places you are traveling, for things like landslides,
flash floods and earthquakes, so that you are prepared in case it does occur. Knowing what is coming is one of the
easiest ways to stay calm and safe, because it gives you ample time to prepare for it, so always remember to check
and stay up to date with developments in disaster preparedness.
